Adelina

Adelina discovered La Gondola while taking a walk along the Providence river walk. She watched as one of the gondoliers rowed in a circle underneath the bridge and sang a beautiful Italian folk song. As she clapped, she and the gondolier struck up a conversation about music and he came to learn that she was a singer. The gondolier asked her to sing him a song. She accommodated by singing a duet with him, The Prayer. The gondolier was pleased with her singing and invited her to spontaneously hop over the fence and into the gondola to sing more. Just to be safe, though, she continued her walk over to the gondola landing, and while singing more selections of classical Italian music she mentioned how much she would love to do this every day. That wish was easily granted, and she started singing on board the gondolas themselves instead of from the shore.

Adelina has had a strong affinity for music since she was just three years old. While listening to artists such as Celine Dion and Sara Brightman, she began letting out her first notes to match the beautiful voices emerging from the speakers. In that moment she exclaimed, "Mom, I want to be a singer when I grow up!" Since then, she has never given up on her dream, studying all types of music from contemporary to opera. Adelina graduated from Burrillville High School, attaining All-State level in voice and also learning to play the clarinet, guitar, and piano. Her abilities won her a number of academic and other awards, and she is now studying at Providence College for a double major in Vocal Performance and Spanish with a minor in Business Studies. She intends to focus on music and to continue her studies of voice into grad school and beyond.

Quotations:

"This has been the most rewarding experience and I am so incredibly blessed and humbled to have the
opportunity to sing as my job. I am so thankful every day."

"Singing is my passion; it fills me up inside and completes me. Without it I would be completely lost."

"I love when music can affect people's emotions, so that they not only hear a song, they feel it. I often
cry when I hear great music because it brings me so much happiness."
