“Alessandro” is proud to be the younger brother of Marcello and to work alongside him and all the other gondoliers. A graduate of Ponaganset High School in 1999, Alessandro attended King's College in Wilkes-Barre, P.A., graduating with a bachelor's degree in theatre. Alessandro works currently at the Trinity Repertory Theatre, located on Washington Street in Providence, and as the technical director for Brown University's Acting & Directing Master's Program, located at the Pell Chafee Performance Center on Empire Street. As a carpenter for theatre, Alessandro risks life and limb daily so that designer's dreams become a reality, and he is glad to do it. Alessandro, like so many other gondoliers in Providence, is not really Italian, but his beautiful and understanding wife Lauren is. The two of them currently reside at their home in Riverside.
Quotations:
"No, I don't design the sets. I just build them how the designer meant to draw it." - Alessandro
"Acting? I decided along time ago that I would rather be a character than an actor. It takes less discipline and there is more money elsewhere." - Alessandro
"[Who is in charge around here?]"
"Well, I'm the vice president in charge of hiring and firing. Mostly firing." - Alessandro
Note: All quotations are attributable to the gondolier himself unless otherwise noted, and in no way reflect the opinion of La Gondola Providence, Inc., its ownership, or any other employees. The quotations actually are allowed to illustrate a little of each gondolier's personality. |
