One of the most popular attractions that the city of Providence boasts is the spectacle of WaterFire. WaterFire is an art installation created in 1994 by Barnaby Evans, a Rhode Island artist, and consisting of dozens of braziers that are floating in the middle of Providence's three rivers being filled with wood and lit on fire. The fires are lit around dusk, and the braziers are fed by a small army of volunteers and staff over the course of the evening, ending around 12:45 in the morning. Music from all over the world is played throughout the length of the Providence Riverwalk, and the entire experience is surreal, mesmerizing, and unforgettable.
Please check out the newest addition to our fleet, The La Gondola Floating Lounge. This is available both before and during the WaterFire display. Click here for more details.
La Gondola Providence offers gondola trips on both full and partial WaterFire evenings.
The full WaterFire reservation is approximately 30 minutes long, and the excursion is a round trip that meanders through the entire WaterFire display. To book a reservation with us for WaterFire, please click on the link below to reserve online or call the office at 401.421.8877.

Some of the most magical evenings of our entire season happen on partial WaterFire evenings. These events generally happen about 5-6 times a year, and consist of only part of the Riverwalk's braziers being lit for the evening. What makes this so special in terms of the gondola trip is a number of things:
First, the Riverwalk is far less crowded than on a full WaterFire evening, since there is very little advertising done for the partial Fires. Thus our guests do not have to contend with up to forty or fifty thousand people on shore and driving around the city, and logistically the entire evening usually goes much more smoothly than on a full Fire night, for all involved.
Second, the fact that only part of the river is lit with fires allows us to offer you the best of both worlds, so to speak, of what we normally can bring to the guests on our trips. On one end of the river is the WaterFire, with the enchanting WaterFire music, but on the other is the quiet, romantic side of the river, where the gondoliers can sing and the trip is a little more authentic and, we believe, more personal.
Third, the pricing of partial Fire evenings is less than on full Fire evenings! The way we arrive at the partial Fire prices is as follows: the basic trip package that we offer (the Sogni trip) is $79 for two people, $15 for each additional. The full Fire trip is $159 for two, $15 for each additional. The partial Fire trip splits the difference between the two: $119 for two people, $15 for each additional person.
Note: Online booking is NOT available for partial WaterFire evenings; all reservations for these trip packages must be made through the office at 401.421.8877.
